Instead the mysterious, stranger drew out a letter. I found this instead,” the young man replied, by this time fully reassured by the old man’s amiable tone of voice.

He bent down and picked up the sheet of paper from the floor. “What’s the meaning of the grotesque scenario you just played out?” demanded the young man. “But… they’re only words, a few words scribbled on a piece of paper. Didn’t you tell me that you don’t believe in the power of words? Look at the state you’re in…”

The young man suddenly realised what the millionaire was talking about. “I just wanted to give you a quick lesson. Experience is a much better teacher than mere theory. Simply put, experience is life.

Now do you understand the power that words have? “

“And another thing their power is so great that they don’t even need to be true to have an effect on people. I assure you that I did not at any time have criminal intentions towards you.”
