A deep dive into “The Instant Millionaire” by Mark Fisher
Chapter 8 – Thoughts and Mind
The millionaire says, “You were needlessly scared out of your wits… But not needlessly, in fact, since you learned a valuable lesson. A thought even when false, can affect us if we believe it to be true. But when we learn to distinguish the value of a thought, that is to say, the value we give it, our mind regains or maintains its calm. It was your mind, in fact, that gave meaning to the threat, for if it had been written in a foreign language that you didn’t understand you wouldn’t have paid the slightest attention to it.”
This great insight into the power of words and our minds is priceless. We go through our lives, most of us at least hearing and being offended by everything other people have to say about us. The truth is if you did not know what was said it would not have offended you, although the spoken words were still offensive. We as adults need to be getting over this and helping our children understand that it doesn’t matter what someone else thinks or says about you, it has nothing to do with you. Can you imagine how many teenagers lives will be saved in one year if they accept and understand this to be true – it’s all perception. Give your children the GIFT of ignoring all the BS that goes on in the world. They will grow up to be stronger members of society and will help others along the way.
