Chapter 12 – Don’t allow fear to STOP you

Don’t you find it presumptuous of people to believe that they always have their entire life ahead of them? In many cases, death strikes out of the blue. People, however, rely on the certainty – or rather the illusion – that they have lots of time ahead of them, allowing them constantly to put off the decisions they should make.

They tell themselves: “I’ve got time. I’ll get down to business later. Old age arrives and they find they haven’t done anything yet. Then we look back with regret and say, “only if I knew.”

The secret of happiness, therefore, is to live as if each day were your last. And to live each day to the fullest by doing what you feel you should be doing and what you would do if your hours were numbered.

Because basically they ARE. But we always seem to realise this when there is very little time left. Then it’s too late.

So you must be courageous enough to act immediately. Live with this thought in mind. I refuse to die without having had the courage to do what I want to do. I do not want to die with the appalling thought that society tricked me, that it got the better of me and destroyed my dreams.

The last thing you want is to be on your death bed with regret, that you never fulfilled your dream, because you were afraid of making a mistake. That would be a very sad day for you. When you know that mistakes and setbacks are but learning curves. Don’t allow the fear of feeling stupid to stop you from reaching your dreams. Most of our fears are made up by us and will never be true or real.

You have the genius within you.
