Chapter 14 – Smell the roses

The millionaire says, “I must have smelled these roses thousands of times, and yet each time it’s a different experience. Do you know why?

Because I have learned to live in the here and now. Forgetful of the past, unmindful of the future.

The secret is extremely simple. It resides in mental concentration. The harder your mind is concentrating, the more it lives in the present, the more it is absorbed in what it is doing. Concentration is the key to success in all facets of life. The better you are able to concentrate, the more quickly and efficiently will you be able to work. You will spot details that others overlook.

By increasing your own powers of concentration, you will be able to make wise observations on things. You will learn to read accurately the people you meet. Your powers of concentration will enable you to discover at a glance who they really are. And you will become realistic in the truest sense of the word. You will see things as they are.

Most people go through life like sleepwalkers. They see neither the things nor the people they meet. They live as if in a dream. Therefore properly speaking, they are never there. Their mistakes and failures haunt them. Their minds are permeated with fear of the future.

When our minds reach a higher level of concentration, our ability to solve problems will become formidable.

The sad thing about life is that most of us aren’t living it, we do not take control of our lives. We allow others to dictate to use what we should do, when we should do it, and how we should do it. The we wonder why we are not enjoying our lives. STOP – and take the time to smell the roses, it won’t be long and you will be gone. Allow yourself to appreciate everything around you, stop seeing all the wrong and look for all the right, it’s there you are just not tuned into it. Life is truly great, it’s us that make it a misery.
